Kerri Batman, age 65

Kerri Kristine Batman, 65, passed away June 5, 2024, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas. She was born on April 25, 1959, in Garden City, Kansas, to James and Martha (Loucks) Garetson. On July 20, 1985, she married Eric Batman in Dodge City, Kansas.

A Copeland High School graduate of 1977 and Fort Hays State University graduate of 1981, Kerri started her teaching career at Pawnee Heights from 1981 to 1985. She then moved to Great Bend and was a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Great Bend High School until her retirement in May 2017. Being the dedicated teacher she was, Kerri returned to the teaching role twice before enjoying full-time retirement.

Kerri enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking - including for the hunters at the lodge. She loved to mow and do yard work. Kerri loved traveling, whether to western Kansas to see family or to the family cabin in Colorado to enjoy coffee, puzzles, and the mountain wild flowers. She adored spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Eric, of the home; two sons, Jordan Batman and wife Alyx of Great Bend, and Cale Batman of Great Bend; two grandchildren, Rowyn Christina Batman and Rydge Cain Batman; mother, Martha Garetson of Montezuma; brother, Jesse Garetson and wife, Jerra; five sisters, Chloe Dohrmann and husband Mike, Debbie Henley and husband Richard, Melanie Penner and husband Ron, Andrea Cearley and husband Mike, and Shelly Baldwin and husband Sid; mother-in-law, Marilyn Batman of Great Bend; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Garetson; and father-in-law, Oliver Batman.

Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Jane Heeke presiding. Interment will follow at Eden Valley Cemetery, Seward, Kansas. Memorials have been designated to Great Bend High School Family and Consumer Science Department, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
