Larned – Treva Beatrice Smith, 96, passed away December 31, 2023 at Country Living of Larned.
She was born November 4, 1927 in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Gilbert Martin and Lena Margaret Bortz. Lifetime area resident, she was a farmwife and Activity Therapist in greenhouse at the Larned State Hospital.
She was a member of the Larned Methodist Church, UMW and JFR club. She loved spending time with family, attending family reunions, enjoyed gardening, volunteering at the Budget Shop and was a 4-H leader.
On December 20, 1945 she married Clayton C. Smith in Larned; he preceded her in death on April 21, 1998.
Survivors include: son, Dennis (Beth) Smith, Larned; two grandchildren Marc Novak, Athens, Georgia, Jacob Smith, Larned, Kansas; and numerous much-loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Gilbert Martin; mother, Lena Margaret Bortz Johnson; daughter, Lora Novak; son-in-law, Edward Novak; brother, Elton Johnson; and three sisters, Mildred Booker, Dorras Barnes and Darlene Fox.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Linda Doyle presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery, Larned.
