KDHE: Just one new COVID case in Ellis Co. since Wednesday

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment on Friday reported one new COVID-19 case in Ellis County had been identified since Wednesday.

As of Friday morning, HaysMed reported five COVID inpatients, two active and three recovering.

On Wednesday, the Kansas Hospital Association reported 54 percent of eligible Ellis County residents (5 and older) are considered fully vaccinated — a figure that has remained constant for several weeks.

The Mayo Clinic reported that as of March 13, just more than 65 percent of all eligible Americans and about 61 percent of eligible Kansans are considered fully vaccinated.

Since reporting began, there have been 7,132 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 79 coronavirus-related deaths.
