The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to close K-123 in Decatur and Sheridan counties in early August for reconstruction.

The $4.4 million project will widen the pavement and add asphalt shoulders on the full 6 miles starting at the K-23 junction and ending at the K-383 junction. Traffic should follow the signed detour route on K-23, K-223 and K-383. Work is expected to be completed by the end of November, weather permitting.

The exact closure date has not been determined at this time. KDOT will provide updated information on the closure once plans have been finalized. Project updates will also be posted frequently on the Northwest Kansas KDOT Facebook and Twitter pages, and general information available at kandrive.org.

McCormick Excavation and Paving of Colby is the primary contractor for the project.
