The Hays school board approved the school fees for the 2025-26 school year at its meeting on April 7.
All fees will remain the same, except for school lunches, which have increased by 5 cents at each grade level, and the afterschool care fee, which will increase from $4 per day to $5 per day.
The district will continue to provide free breakfast for all students.
Board member Allen Park suggested offering a fee discount to families with multiple children.
Superintendent Ron Wilson said he did not support a fee reduction. The district has had historical fee reductions, and that has decreased the available funds for textbooks and other classroom materials.
With the planned adoption of a new English curriculum, the FY2026 carryover is estimated to be only $6,059, from an FY2025 budget of more than $1.2 million.
The full fee schedule is below.
