ECMA
The Ellis County Ministerial Alliance is looking for someone to fill the role of secretary.
The volunteer position will require about 1 to 5 hours of work per week for the months of September through May, said the Rev. G. Chris Prater, ECMA president. The nonprofit organization does not meet during the months of June, July, and August, so the number of hours per week then would be negligible, he said.
“The Ellis County Ministerial Alliance is a group of local churches and their designated clergy (or clergy representatives) trying to make a difference in our community for the Kingdom of God. The person who fills the role of secretary within the ECMA plays a vital role in helping us fulfill that mission,” Prater said.
The secretary’s duties include taking the minutes at all meetings and e-mailing reports out to all members prior to each meeting. In addition, the person maintains the written records for the organization and oversees the group’s email account.
From September through May, the person would need to attend two meetings per month. The executive board meets from 9 to 10:30 a.m. the first Wednesday of the month, and the full board meets from 10 to 11:30 a.m. the second Wednesday of the month.
The ideal candidate would have good computer and organizational skills, Prater said. “The person needs to be both a team player and self-motivated enough to accomplish some tasks on their own. A good communicator would be ideal as they might be the first line of contact on occasions for the public and ECMA.
“The candidate will work closely with the president, vice president, and the treasurer of the ECMA. The candidate does not have to be ordained clergy,” Prater said, adding, “A servant’s heart is of the utmost importance.”
Interested applicants should contact Prater at [email protected] or at (785) 625-9495. Prater serves as pastor of First Baptist Church in Hays.
