The Hays Area Board of Zoning Appeals will conduct a public hearing during its meeting March 16.
Blaine and Kimberly Gabel are requesting a two-foot variance to reduce their interior south sideyard setback for construction of an addition to a detached garage at 3103 Tam O'Shanter Drive.
Since the regulations were changed to lessen the setbacks to five feet for an accessory structure, according to information supplied by Superintendent of Planning and Development Curtis Deines, the request for a lesser setback opposes the general spirit and intent of those regulations.
