The Kansas Department of Health and Environment on Wednesday reported 21 new COVID-19 cases had been identified in Ellis County from May 28 to June 3.
KDHE now reports updated case numbers weekly on Wednesdays.
Nine northwest area counties were listed in KDHE's high incidence classification — Trego, Gove, Logan, Wallace, Graham, Rooks, Thomas, Sheridan and Lane. Ellis County was moved from the moderate to substantial incidence classification.

Since reporting began, there have been 7,205 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 79 coronavirus-related deaths as of April 1. KDHE has also discontinued county-by-county death totals.
