City of Hays

Beginning Monday, Mayer Specialty Services, Goddard, will be performing rehabilitation of sanitary sewer manholes at locations in the south part of Hays. See the map above for locations.

Mayer will rehab 50 manholes not to exceed the budgeted amount of $125,000. Additional manholes for rehabilitation have been identified to the north of the project area.

Work is expected to take approximately three months.

Rehabilitation of sanitary sewer manholes will not affect the sanitary sewer system and customers will see no disruption in service. Traffic should remain unaffected by this project and traffic control signs will be posted if necessary.

Manhole rehabilitation is generally considered to have a 50 to 60-year lifespan when the right material is properly applied. This project focuses on manholes in high acidic environments and high sewer use lines.

The Department of Water Resources initiated the manhole rehabilitation program in 2018.
