The Ad Astra Music Festival is gearing up for its ninth season slated for next month. It marks the return of the Russell Community Choir, who hasn’t sung together in person in three years. Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, June 21, in the Fellowship Hall at Trinity United Methodist Church where they’ll rehearse every Tuesday until their performance on Friday, July 15, at St. John Lutheran Church. This year’s program centers music about famous Kansan aviator, Amelia Earhart. The concert is a collaboration with the festival’s professional Chamber Choir led by festival artistic director, John Irving, and another choir made up of local high school students, led by festival manager, Shelby Laird.

The Russell Community Choir will be led by the festival’s artistic director and Russell native, Alex Underwood. To sign up to sing, complete the form at www.adastramusicfestival.org/rcc. Send questions to Alex at [email protected].
