News release

The Kansas Judicial Branch and Ellis County District Court have announced that Kansas Legal Services will be providing legal aid to Kansans through the Ellis County District Court Self Help Center. KLS will provide advice and may give limited assistance with reviewing and drafting court documents related to non-criminal matters.  Attorneys may also assist with expungements.

Kansas Legal Services will have an attorney stationed at the Ellis County Courthouse on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month to assist with non-criminal matters.  Anyone seeking legal assistance on a limited basis is encouraged to submit an application for services.  Applications will be screened for conflicts and eligibility. Forms can be found on the 23rd Judicial District website (www.23rdjudicial.org)  or in the Ellis County District Court office.

The Self-Help Center is available outside of legal aid days.  Residents are encouraged to use the Self-Help Center for forms, education, and other resources for accessing the justice system.  The Center is open to the public Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
